Peterson House was born from the vision of Ian Peterson. He wanted to produce a sparkling wine from Hunter Valley fruit to mark special occasions for his growing family. In his early years pioneering with Peterson Family wines, he had celebrated each grand child’s birth with a special wine. For his first grand daughter he thought it only appropriate to produce his own “champagne”.

Buoyed by the success of his sparkling wine and driven with his passion and vision, Ian went the next step and purchased some land on the corner of Broke Road and Wine Country Drive – our present location. To turn the vision into bricks and mortar, Ian enlisted family and friends to become part of Peterson House.

Since 1995 Peterson House has been producing fine traditional method sparkling wines. The traditional sparkling wine varieties are the flagships for our benchmark bottle fermented wines with Pinot Noir Chardonnay Pinot Meunier (PCM) and Chardonnay Pinot Noir examples of these. Our own Hunter Valley twist on premium traditional products has Semillon Pinot and Pinot Noir Chardonnay Viognier as staples on our tasting list. Peterson House also specialises in seasonal offerings of the much loved red varieties of sparkling Shiraz, Cabernet, Merlot and Chambourcin as well as producing a small number of limited release sparkling whites.

Since our inception, we have also introduced many new and exciting styles of sparkling wines. Fruity Rose and Pink Blush, Moscato or Sparkling Botrytis Semillon could be to your taste.

Our reputation as a producer of sparkling wines of distinction is also available to taste with small limited parcels of Museum Release wines - some aged on yeast lees for up to 17 years - available at our Cellar Door for tasting.

Our aim is to have a wine for all tastes and all occasions, so please move on through our website or come and visit our Cellar Door to discover some of the wonderful products now available.

With the ideal location to either start or finish your tour of the Hunter Vineyards, at the gateway to Pokolbin, come and enjoy the friendly, warm atmosphere and beautiful surrounds. We will be ready to make you feel welcome at the Cellar Door for tasting, Restaurant Cuvee for a fine breakfast or lunch dining experience, and out on our deck at the Oyster Bar. Our idyllic setting is also available for that special wedding date or other evening function.
